Dear Happily I much more articulate and persuasive in person. I can convince pretty much everyone about pretty much everything.

It would be interesting I am not afraid of new ideas and intelligently discussing them with honest and sharp people.

Try a more normal progression: Spend some time reading and getting to know the personalities/lifestyles here. Engage in dialogue that shows you are a person of reason and intellect, rather than someone looking for support in pushing a selfish agenda on your poor wife. As people get to know (and trust, maybe?) you, perhaps you will develop friendships that evolve to email and/or IMs. From there, phone s, if people are comfortable. Then, meet maybe. Or simply hook up a $x cam to your home computer and ask your "friends" to do the same. Don't be surprised if people never want to do any of the above. Anonymity is what keeps this forum moving along and extending the normal boundaries will require more trust than you've demonstrated worthiness of so far.

try skype you can easily put together a private voip phone conference. that might be fun! and it's free, save getting a little headset w/microphone

I find that many folks Who are very good at verbal persuasion are not good when you get right down to the dirty nitty gritty - maybe you just get off on persuading people to get what you want

Manipulation... sounds like what this guy is in to. Persuasion is another thing, to me, and I think the difference lies in intent. I like to get other people to see a different side of things, sometimes, and I do it not because of what it's going to get me but because I think people often need to expand their perspective(s).

Exactly! Intent plays a major role. This guy just doesn't sound like he's concerned about his wife's perspective *at all*, whereas a considerate person would try to see the other side (of a stranger's valid argument, even), although they may not ultimately agree. I think I would clam up sexually too if my husband was relentlessly trying to "persuade" me to do something I expressed misgivings about.
